Despite the bad weather causing races to be abandoned on Sunday at the America’s Cup World Series, the duke and duchess of Cambridge still appeared to be in high spirits as they visited Land Rover BAR base to show their support. They met with Sir Ben, Sir Keith Mills and Sir Charles Dunstone for a tour of the base, a go on the 3D sailing simulator and to meet with friends and family of the sailors. Later they gave the prizes to the victorious team, Land Rover BAR who now sit at the top of the ACWS leaderboard.
Kate and William are both keen sailors and were disappointed by the abandonment of the race but Sir Ben reassured them that ‘’Today was a shame but we will get that sorted out and book the weather in for next year’. Kate is also a royal patron of the 1851 trust which aims to inspire and engage a new generation through sailing and the marine industry.
The Duchess was presented with personalised Henri Lloyd jackets for her two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The couple themselves were wearing the Henri Lloyd Aura Half Zip Fleece with ‘The Duke of Cambridge’ and ‘The Duchess of Cambridge’.
